Happy Thanksgiving

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving has almost arrived and that the holiday season will soon be upon us.  Students have been busy studying about the first Thanksgiving, making special art projects, writing about what they are thankful for, and doing turkey activities.  It's certainly a busy and exciting time of year at our school!

Please remember that Wednesday, November 21st is a half day and we will be dismissing at 1:05 pm.  If you are traveling, please be safe.  I wish everyone a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving!

Bundle Up

Brrrr.  It's getting coooold out there!  Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket or coat.  They will still be going out to recess every day (except for on rainy days) so we want them to be toasty warm!

Elf on a Shelf

Please join us on November 30th for our Winter Event, Elf on Shelf.  There will be a reading of the book and special crafts to make this a fun filled night based on the popular book.  Sign up early to get your preferred time slot as tickets will be given away on a first come, first serve basis!

Thank You

I would like to extend a big thank you to the PTA, teachers, and the many, many parents and children who dedicated their time to make our Harvest Festival a huge success.  Between the games, crafts, raffles, costume parade, flashmob, Book Fair, bake sale, chili and pie contests, etc., everyone had a fun-filled time!  Thank you to everyone for your awesome support to continue to make our school an even better place.  See you again at our Elf on a Shelf Holiday Event!

October Fun

It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through October.  Students have settled into their routines, and the weather is beginning to cool off.  Please be sure that you send your child to school with a jacket on those chilly days as they are playing outside and recess, and we don't want them to be cold!

We would like to invite our school community to attend our Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 20th.  There will be many fun and exciting things to do: games, crafts, a costume parade, a best pie contest, a bake sale, Scholastic Book Fair, vendors and awesome raffles.  One raffle will be to win the job of being the Assistant Principal's Pal for a week.  This student will earn extra recess for their class for a week and also the honor of reciting the pledge of allegiance each morning for a week during the morning announcements.  I can't wait to find out who will be my pal this year!  So, please come and join us on Saturday.  It's guaranteed fun for the whole family!

This is a reminder that there will be PTA meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00 pm in our library.  We would love to have you join us and find out what you can do to support your child's school.

FALL IS HERE

Today marks the last official day of summer.  The weather has already begun to change and, unfortunately, the germs and allergies have begun to spread.  If your child becomes ill, please be sure to call the absentee line to let us know.  To be considered an excused absence, your child must have a doctor's note (even if you call in.)

We would like to thank the families who have attended our first two Open Houses (grades 1, 2 and 4).  We are looking forward to our third and final Open House for kindergarten and third grade students on Thursday, September 27th.

Our first PTA meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:00.  Our PTA helps make so many things possible at our school from assemblies to field trips to special classroom materials to recognition awards - and more!  Please join us to find out ways that you can help.  Just an hour of your time can make such a difference.

Our first PTA event, the Harvest Festival, will take place on Saturday, October 20th.  This is a fun-filled event for the whole family.  There will be food, games, raffles, a costume parade and more.  The Scholastic Book Fair will also be taking place.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Welcome Back!

It's hard to believe that summer is just about behind us, and a new school year is almost here.  This is an exciting time for our students as they anxiously await meeting their new teachers and classmates.  Our teachers have been busy at work setting up the classrooms to make them comfy and inviting so that our children feel at home here.

I would like to remind students (grades 1-4) that they should have completed the required summer reading assignment.  (There is more information about this on the Plymouth Schools website homepage.)  Students will need to give their teachers their reading responses in order to receive credit for completing this requirement.  Later in September, we will have an assembly to recognize all the students who achieved this goal, and they will receive a "Reach for the Gold" certificate for their efforts.  We hope everyone will receive one!

I look forward to another exciting year.  I'll see you on Tuesday!

End of Year Approaching

As the end of the year approaches, a variety of activities will be taking place.  Please be sure to check our school calendar on the Plymouth Public Schools website.  There are many field trips, a presentation of Charlotte's Web, Field Day, Animal Museums, Appreciation Teas and many more awesome educational activities that will be happening between now and the end of the year.  Don't miss out!

The weather is getting warmer and the children are enjoying some of the beautiful, sunny days when they are outside at recess.  Along with the warmer weather, comes a need for summer-like clothing.   I personally love flip-flops, but these can be dangerous on the playground and cause unnecessary injuries.  Therefore, please be sure that your child has a pair of sneakers to wear outside for recess. We want everyone to be safe out there!

Bullying Presentation

There will be a PTA meeting on Wednesday, Februay 15th at 6:30 in the library.  Immediately following the meeting, health teacher, Ann Donelan, will be doing a presentation on bullying.  She will focus on the definition of bullying, the curriculum we use to help prevent bullying, and explain the bullying law.  Please come out and hear about this valuable information.
